Bayern and Real Madrid meet in Champions League semis
Two European heavyweights collide in a battle for a place in the final.
The UEFA Champions League semi-finals start Tuesday with a clash of the titans as Bayern Munich take on Real Madrid.
Bayern, the German champions, will be looking to reach their third Champions League final in four years, while Real Madrid, the Spanish giants, will be aiming to win the tournament for a record-extending 14th time.
The two teams have a long and storied history in the Champions League, having met in the semi-finals on eight previous occasions. Bayern have won four of those ties, while Real Madrid have won three.
The first leg of this season's semi-final will be played at Bayern's Allianz Arena on Tuesday, April 25th, with the second leg taking place at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday, May 2nd.
Bayern will be confident of victory in the first leg, having won their last five matches in all competitions. Real Madrid, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico last weekend.
The match is sure to be a close and exciting affair, with both teams possessing a wealth of attacking talent. Bayern will be led by the prolific Robert Lewandowski, while Real Madrid will be looking to Karim Benzema to continue his impressive goalscoring form.
The winner of this tie will face either Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain in the final, which will be played at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday, May 28th.
